Telluride Regional Airport Runway Improvement Update

The Telluride Regional Airport will begin its runway and safety area improvements this fall.
Phase 1B
Phase 1B, Schedule 1 will include the construction of the north buttress area from Station 29+25 to Station 50+45 that will include ground stabilization and blanket drains. This area is adjacent to the existing dip area.
Phase 1B, Schedule 2 will include the installation of a Geogrid for the foundation stabilization of the North Buttress.
Phase 1B, Schedule 3 will include the construction of the aggregate piers as recommended for the foundation stabilization in the North Buttress location.
Phase 1B, Schedule 4 will include the construction of the south fill embankment from Station 40+00 to Station 56+32 to the ultimate safety area dimension. This area is adjacent to the existing dip area.
Phase 1B is to begin construction on May 31- September 22. The airport will be open throughout this period of time.
Phase 2 of the runway and safety area improvements is scheduled for the spring of 2009, and the scope of work will be determined by Federal Aviation Administration funding.
This project is being funded by grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Colorado Division of Aeronautics, and funds generated from the Telluride Regional Airport.
